The Midwest, Iowa included, is currently being bombarded by severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. Yesterday one touched down about a mile away from us and a lot of the houses here have roof/siding damage. A large tree branch fell on our power line and roof right by my window. Kinda freaked me out. It doesn't help that I am terrified of storms. The power was out for quite some time and if it had been any longer, our basement would have flooded because the sump pump couldn't work and the food in the freezer/fridge would have been in jeopardy.
They're calling for another round today. In fact, it's already extremely dark and windy. Really windy. Like, so windy that the power line poles are shaking. I really hope it doesn't get worse. The power is most likely going to go out again today.
I don't like this.
Please, weather, for the love of every deity out there...don't incur your wrath upon us. I'd like our town to stay safe and I'd like to not further our financial problems with a bunch of repairs. Plus, I'll be leaving for Europe on Wednesday, and if there's storm damage...I most likely won't be going. The money we put towards the trip can't be refunded; therefore, it's wasted, and that desperately needed money could have been used for repairs if we need it.
I feel extremely sick and scared to death at the moment. This doesn't look good.
This is why I want to move to Canada.
Nothing bad ever happens in Canada.
