Literature Text
i knew a boy with
eyes of gold & fire
in his footsteps.
he would roar to the
stars, declaring himself
as fearless as a king
& as regal as a lion.
"ad lucem,"
he would announce
every night when leo
would coax the virgin
from her radiant
castle.
five times around the
sun & loyal fangs bared
to shield his kingdom,
my lion boy
dances with flames.

Your Poetry Sucks
Yes, roses are red
And violets are blue
But you have to understand
Who said they had to,
Its about imagination
Emotion and orignality
Not the reiteration
Of dead men's practicality
These words,
They are your sentence
To a world that has to listen
As you create the difference
Whether it be
With angst poem against love
Or how you set your heart free
To fly like a dove,
For these words
Whether or not they be true
Their beauty and ideals
Will be used to define you,
So yes,
Hope ,in fact, has feathers
And like a caged bird it sings
But these words will only be tethers
That strip you of your wings,
Those are their words
Meant for their time
And me
Literature
Scorpius
sometimes,
i wake up with bits of Orion
still stuck between my teeth.
& i grin, remembering
the face of every lover
i’ve managed unscathed,
to crawl out from underneath.
‘ad astra’ inked into ankle bones
like little wings, Pluto’s underworld
ripe, coursing through my veins:
i stake claim to clavicles.
devouring shivers
between the constellations
of tongues & weak limbs,
i get off
on all the ways mere mortals
beg me to sacrifice them
to the heavens.

She always fell for boys who needed saving.
She always fell for boys who needed saving.
Giving them kisses in the dark
to numb their headache from
drinking too much and yet
not enough to kill lust.
She was always adored by boys, who,
if given the chance, would rebuild
the world for her.
But she wanted to be the heroine
and refused to see
she needed saving, too.

This is for =Sammur-amat's contest WRITTEN IN THE STARS, which can be found here: [link]
The theme of this? To write a prose or poetry piece about your zodiac sign and include a wee bit of Latin. Alternatively, you can use your favorite zodiac sign, which is what I did since I've already written about Aquarius. Obviously, this is about Leo.
Leo is actually my favorite for two reasons: I love the Lion King and my favorite character in an anime/manga called Fairy Tail is Loke, who is the representation of the celestial spirit Leo.
ad lucem means "to the light" in Latin, and I believe it makes sense because Leo's fixed element is fire. Their planet, of course, is the sun. And the constellation of Leo resides between Cancer and Virgo, hence why I mentioned a "virgin" in the piece, since Virgo is the virgin. Leo is also the fifth sign of the zodiac, hence "five times around the sun."
I really like this one. It may not be up to standards to get very far in the contest, but I really like how it came out! Please go check out =Sammur-amat's page for more details (as well as wonderful writing and a wonderful person) if you want to participate in the contest!

Seems very reminiscent of the English Romantic poets to me, I really like it
